Name 5 boys with these hijacked names?

Name 4 boys using the hijacked names from the list below. Name an extra boy using hijacked names from those NOT on the list (I may have left some out). First name and a middle name. You cannot use a name twice. Each one of these names are MASCULINE so don't answer with a "OH IT'S A GIRL NAME!!!" etc.

Ashley, Angel, Ariel, Avery, Aubrey, Courtney, Madison, Mackenzie, Allison, Jamie, Shelby, Beverly, Carol, Kelsey, Peyton, Francis, Lindsay, Marion, Leslie, Hayley, Paris, Robin, Taylor, Vivian, Kelly, Hilary, Shannon, Jordan, Tracy, Whitney, Stacy, Morgan...

BQ: What amazing boy name are you noticing is slipping into the 'boy-turned-girl' mantra?

BQQ: Name a boy using two official girl names. Extra points goes to the person who makes it sound masculine (this bonus is just for fun. No one is hijacking girl names for boys).

BQQQ: What boy-turned-girl name would you love to be reclaimed back into the boys' side?

BQQQQ: Would you consider naming your son one of these names?

THANK YOU! :-D

Shall we toss these as well? They are MALE names listed in the top 1000, 1900 US Census,

    Helen,Margaret,Elizabeth,Ruth,Louise,Lillie,Edna,Mildred,Beatrice,Clara,Patsy,Grace,

    Lillian,Rose,Bernice,Clare,Lois,Mae,Edith,Hester,Irene,Jennie,Martha,Lauren,Nora,Agnes,

Alice,Cora,Dorothy,Eva,Gertrude......There is more in the top 1,000 and these were not all low rated.

Saint Frances was born in 1384. If parents use Francis, they are idiots.

Many of your male name were all but dead before females "took the over". The use of Paris as a female name actually kick-started the Revival a male Paris (ie,It was actually used). Several generations of parents just let names die. It's a shame, but SOME of these names were actually rescued by feminine use.

I am on the STOP REQUESITIONING BOY NAMES! Camp. But each name has a different history.

Alice, Lauren and Clare WERE unisex, and Alice, or Alys was all male at one time. But Allison, Carol, Marion, Beverly are NOW crazy for male names. In the reality of 2012 they are NOT male names; They have a History of being male names. Plus, I can't think of any male who would want them back:) If you include this endless list of fully accepted female names, a lot of people will fall off your bandwagon.

BQ: I seem to come across a slipping boy name everyday, and I really get upset. Anything that ends in "a" like Jonah or Ezra.

    BQQ: Lauren Gail

    BQQQ: Darcy !!!!!

BQQQQ: Absolutely - Courtney, Francis, Shannon, Jordan, Morgan, Angel (I came from a high Hispanic population areas where there were many boy angels and no girls. Angel is a bit of a tough image name and plain silliness on girls.)

    Shelby Jordon

    Courtney Shannon

    Tracy Morgan

    Whitney Peyton

    Darcy Meredith

    Really nice question.

    • Ashley Taylor

    • Francis Jordan

    • Marion Leslie

    • Morgan Kelly

    • Alexis Addison

    BQ: Aubrey

    BQQ: Kylie Samantha

    BQQQ: Aubrey

BQQQQ: Maybe Jordan or Taylor, but probably not.

    • A lot of these names are not hijacked, I mean some of them are, but a lot of them aren't. Names originating as surnames weren't even used as first names until the 1800s, and they were used on both boys and girls (but mostly boys because most surnames have a harsh masculine sound to them) when the trend began, so these names have always been technically unisex: Ashley, Avery, Courtney, Madison, Mackenzie, Allison, Jamie (short for Jamison), Shelby, Beverly, Kelsey, Peyton, Lindsay, Leslie, Hayley, Taylor, Kelly, Hilary, Shannon, Jordan, Tracy, Whitney, and Morgan.

    • Ariel has always been used as a unisex name. It's a common misbelief that the name was originally masculine, due to its rising popularity as a boy's name in the 1600s because of Shakespeare's "The Tempest".

    • Paris is masculine. People started naming their daughters Paris because of the city.

    • Robin is a pet form of Robert, and began as a masculine name. The name became used as a feminine name because of the bird.

    • Carol is a masculine name in French (meaning "free man"), but is a unisex name in English (meaning "song of joy or praise").

    • Francis is a masculine name. People began giving the name to girls in honor of St. Francis. However, the name Frances is unisex, as it means "from France".

    • Vivian has always been a unisex name. It wasn't used until the 5th century (because of St. Vivian) and was used on both males and females. It comes from a Latin word, vivus, which means "alive".

    • Marion is derived from Mary. It began as a girl's name in France, but was used as a boy's name in England.

    • For a boy, Stacy is short for Eustace. For a girl, it's short for Anastasia.

    • Angel is a name after an angel, so it doesn't have a set gender.

This was fun. Vivian is on my GP list for a boy.. I used to love Vivienne for a girl but now I find it quite masculine.. I asked a question about it once but I got stupid answers like 'he will get teased for life..' 'don't you know it's a girls name?' and 'Try a masculine name like Vincent instead'.

    :: Vivian Paris

:: Avery Francis [I don't think Francis has been hijacked.. but Frances is a legit feminine name]

    :: Robin Ariel

    ::Jordan Mackenzie

:: Addison Jude [I've seen 3 questions on Y!A that had Jude as a girls name :/]

    [Runner up is Sidney Alexis]

BQ: Way too many... Elliot and Riley are the most recent ones. Both are handsome, masculine classics but some people think they sound feminine.. I have no idea why. I've seen Riley spelt Rylee and used on a girls sooo many times- It's just really annoying. And I suspect Elliot will soon be seen as 'unisex' too expecially when given the NN 'Elli'. I recently came across a question where they spelt Elliot as Elliette instead!

BQQ: Lol um.. how about. Ulyzabeth Kathurin [Elizabeth Catherine].

    BQQ: Vivian.

BQQQQ: There are some I still find useable on a boy [Robin, Taylor, Addison, Avery, Jordan etc] because where I live they are more popular on a boy but I wouldn't risk something like Paris, Hayley or Hilary- names that have been used on girls for a while now.

Although I agree with you that most of these names are masculine, Allison is a variant spelling of the Norman French diminutive of Alice.

    http://www.behindthename.com/name/alison

Stacy can also be a diminutive of Anastasia and therefore is not only masculine but feminine as well.

    5 boys names...

    - Morgan Avery

    - Robin Hayley

    - Aubrey Madison

    - Hilary Mackenzie

    - Elliot Addison

BQ: I love Elliot for a boy, but I have heard numerous people say that it is "girly."

    BQQ: Briony Alice

BQQQ: I wish Jamie was still accepted as a nickname for a boy named James in America, but every single Jamie I know is a girl.

BQQQQ: I would consider using Aubrey or Morgan as middle names. I would be too afraid to use them as first names though. I may also use Jamie as a nickname for the first name James. This would be safer, because as a nickname only, he would not have to go by it.

This is quite an interesting idea, and very refreshing, haha! :)

    1. Lindsay Francis.

    2. Robin Ashley.

    3. Avery Mackenzie.

    4. Morgan Aubrey.

    5. Jamie Taylor.

BQ: What amazing boy name are you noticing is slipping into the 'boy-turned-girl' mantra?

I want to cry whenever I see Elliott on a girl's list, regardless of spelling. It's one of my very favourite boy names. Maxwell was also used on a celebrity girl recently. Addison is a great boy name too, but now everyone thinks it's a girl's name. Aaron is yet another name that I have -- tragically -- seen on girls...And Dylan. I honestly get really upset when I see people trying to name their daughters boy names. I think it sends a horrible message to their daughters.

BQQ: Name a boy using two official girl names. Extra points goes to the person who makes it sound masculine (this bonus is just for fun. No one is hijacking girl names for boys).

This is really hard... Hmm...Teagan Kylie? London Jayne? Ashlin Beatrix?

BQQQ: What boy-turned-girl name would you love to be reclaimed back into the boys' side?

Avery, Allison, Robin, Elliott, Casey, Alexis and Lindsay.

BQQQQ: Would you consider naming your son one of these names?

I plan on giving a son the middle name Lindsay someday. I love the name on a boy, but I don't have the balls to name a son this as a first name, since it's so common for girls. It also has family significance to me, since I had a great-uncle whose name was Lindsay/Lindsey.

Thanks, this was fun! It's nice to meet others with similar mindsets. :)

    Avery Marion

    Jamie Madison

    Mackenzie Shannon

    Kelly Courtney

    And

    Addison Darcy

BQ: Sydney, Harper, and Tatum are slipping. I cannot stand them on girls!

    BQQ: For a Boy:

Erin Phoebe (Well spelling it Aaron would make it masculine so I'll do another just in case)

    Joan Phyllis

Geraldine Diane .... That was painful.

BQQQ: I would like Avery, Sasha, Darcy & Rowan to be reclaimed.

BQQQQ: Avery, Kelly, Jamie, and Madison are names I would consider for a son.

    That was fun!

    Vivian Kelly.

    Morgan Angel.

    Lindsay Carol.

    Marion Robin.

    Evelyn Meredith.

    BQ: Finlay/Finley.

    BQQ: Gail Christie.

    BQQQ: Meredith!

BQQQQ: I'd consider using Meredith, Vivian, Morgan, Lindsay and Evelyn.

    Mackenzie Taylor

    Jamie Morgan

    Peyton Avery

    Robin Aubrey

    *Riley Addison

    BQ: Riley

BQQ: I would name my son Lousee because girls take named like Tristan and add a "y" to make the name feminine. Maybe taking away a "y" makes the name masculine.

BQQQ: Robin and Mackenzie. Mackenzie means "son of Kenneth" and is just as masculine as Nelson, Jackson, and Wilson.

BQQQQ: Probably not. I really like Aubrey, Mackenzie, Robin. and Avery for boys but I wouldn't want my son to made fun of for having a "girl" name.
