In "Game Change," was Governor Palin treated fairly?

I listened to pundits claim that “Game Change” was sympathetic to Governor Palin. Well, maybe, but I watched it carefully and I think she was portrayed as an enormous ignoramus and, at times, an angry, petulant child. “Governor Palin, do you know what the Fed is?”

Selecting Governor Palin as Senator McCain’s running mate was a huge blunder.

The biggest dumb thing in the whole show that was pointed out was that McCain waited until 2 weeks before he had to pick someone and went at it like he did........AND he wanted Libermann! Give me a break!....the movie just pointed out one thing, aside of just how shallow she was, and maybe mentally unstable.....she is an actress, and would be a an Oscar nominee in her first movie role if she ever went that way!...Russia and Canada-foreign experience! Do you know what the Fed is? Koreas one country! What's my approval rating in Alaska? Text! Text! Text!.......she never did anything, knows anything, and/or finished anything!......still the "guns/bible" toters are cliinging to her beyond understanding!

I would certainly not call it sympathetic, but if it's accurate then I guess it's fair. Word from some of the actual people that were there say that it was "uncomfortably accurate". In my opinion some of it toward the middle and end when they were prepping her and toting her around seemed a tad as if they were probably leaving alot of the context of what goes on out, but at the same time, they highlighted how good of a speaker she could be without having any substance (sound familiar?). As with anything Playtone (Hanks and Goetzman) does, they are pretty accurate but may add/twist a couple things here and there for the necessary dramitic effect (example in "John Adams" Abigail Adams is depicted reprimanding Benjamin Franklin for cheating on his wife in France, but in fact his wife had died seven years earlier in 1774).

I always kind of felt sorry for Palin, especially her kids. She was always certainly an egomaniac, but they targeted her to be the running mate for all the wrong reasons and fed her the kool-aid without knowing her background. If not Lieberman, then they should have gone to someone else with experiece. Choosing Palin always seemed despirate.

Consider that the movie was directed by Jay Roach. Yes, the same individual who directed 'Recount'. A movie so slanted and biased that even the stalwarts of the political left refused to support it. In 'Game Change', Roach admitted to compressing events and turning descriptions of incidents and conversations into dialogues. Which formerly was called by the term, 'fiction'.

The book focused equally on the conflicts within Obama/Hillary and the attempts of McCain/Palin to develop a campaign. Such being the case, why did Roach decide not to include Bill Clinton's attempts -which risked his own reputation- in order to stop Obama from reaching the White House? What about the section where Mark Penn, a democratic party strategists, stated, "I cannot imagine America electing a president during a time of war who is not at his center fundamentally American in his thinking and his values." Is this somehow less interesting than trying to get Sarah Palin up to date on international politics? What about the incident where Hillary throws her outrage and anger at the media for ignoring the Obama Reverend Wright issue? Also not interesting enough for the movie?

In the book I found the political left attempting to deal with Obama's race -while making it appear they were ignoring his race- much more interesting than Sarah Palin's political background.

The Game Change movie is primarily a work of fiction. Read the book.

Steve Schmidt and Nicole Wallace say it was fairly accurate, and they were right there with her every step of the way.
