Spanish imperfect subjunctive?
I'm just a little bit confused around the use of the imperfect subjunctive in Spanish. In which situations is it used? Is it just hypothetical situations or are there other times when it should be used?
Any help is appreciated!
Many thanks!

Hypothetical cases are the minority. The subject is rather broad for here, so suffice it to say that its used whenever the grammar requires it...that is, the structure and circumstance of the sentence dictate the use of the subjunctive moreso than than the speaker hypothesizing on something.
Joe lo guardaba sin que nadie lo viera. Joe put it away without anyone seeing it.
Nothing hypothetical here...just that the grammar requires viera, not veía.
