Switching Seizure Medicines?

I have seizures since I was nine, now I'm 17, I'd started taking tegratrol at age 9. And I was switched to Lamictal just recently, can switching medicines cause shaking in the body. I've been shaking in my arms at least everyday, I was wondering if it was cause by switching meds.

Yes it can. I have tried many medications since I started having seizures at age 10, including tegratal, Lamictal, and Keppra among others. I have had shakes since I can remember. Trying to hit a nail with a hammer takes timing and I get strange looks when I do it. The medication is treating the nervous system and in doing so is resulting in muscle nerves reacting when you try to keep things still.

I am lucky. At age 38 they started me with a mix of Lamictal and Keppra and the seizures have stopped, but the shakes have not. The shakes are not violent and only occur when I am trying to hols something still - especially in my off hand.

Please note the shakes to your neurologist. They may reduce the dosage or change medications to reduce the side effects.
