My cat has been urinating all over the house the past few days rather than in the litter box, could be uti?

Alright so my cat is 5 years old and he's a male and the past week or so he has been peeing everywhere BUT the litterbox and I was just wondering if you all think this might be something, he's sick? needs new litter? Please reply!!! It's yucky cleaning up but I love him and I want to make sure he's ok.

Thanks everyone! :)

Most likely it's either a UTI or crystals in the urine. Call the vet first thing tomorrow morning and get him seen tomorrow. Male cats can block - and then the simple UTI becomes a veterinary emergency. Plus this is painful, so I'm sure you want him "OK" as quickly as possible.

Have there been any major changes in his life lately? A new family member/pet, moving, new litter/food, lots of company, anything like that? Has someone or a pet perhaps been mean to him? Has he been injured in any way? Anything that causes lots of stress can cause behaviors like this; he could be acting out. However, more than likely it is a medical related problem.

If you don't think stress or injury is the cause, then he probably does have a UTI and you should get him to a vet right away! If you think it could be one of the above problems, try to fix the situation when possible, and take him to a vet if not (e.g. an injury).

The general rule is that if a cats behaviour suddenly changes there is something wrong. If your cat has been using a litter box and then suddenly starts peeing outside the litter box it could be a urinary tract infection or crystals. Please take him to the vet for a check up to rule out any medical issue. If he's okay then I would try a cat litter called Cat Attract. It has a scent that draws the cat to the litter box. It worked really well when I had a kitten that peed on my daughter's bed. Good luck.

I might obviously take your cat to a vet. Remember that cats are tremendously stoic, and can generally look first-class till they get fairly, fairly ill. When my cat had this hindrance, it grew to become out he had an inflamed anal gland. It ultimately abscessed, and he needed to have surgical procedure to repair it. Whatever it's is almost always very treatable, she almost always has both an contamination or a few style of parasite. It's a lot less complicated to regard in the event you get it early.

There are a lot of possible reasons--one may be health problem or something else. You should have him checked to the vet to find out if he's sick or not.

Yeah it could be uti. Take him to the vet asap. If you are feeding him dry food then urinary crystals is likely to occur. Is he neutered?

My sister had the same problem. Your cats probably trying to get used to its surroundings. The vet gave her cat pills for depression. Try to not feed him as much.
