Is there possibly a career i can make out of Martial Arts?
Im 16 and ive always been interested in Martial Arts. And im going to start soon as a hobby or maybe if possible a career. A friend of mine told me that there are tournaments that pay cash if you win and what not. Now i do honestly like martial arts and im not doing it just for a career but as a hobby.

Even UFC guys need a back-up plan.

It's difficult to make a living out of martial arts, but it can help you in the future with other careers as part of your resume. You can make money fighting professionally but it's not going to be a good source of income for most people. It's more realistic, even if you begin to fight professionally, to keep it as a hobby. If you make it professional and land a massive contract, then good for you.
Cash prizes from tournaments were big in the 80s and 90s but not so much anymore.

Yeah just watch UFC and what not plenty of people make martial arts into a career ...not all are rich like the UFC fighters and some make martial arts into just a side job for a little extra cash by staying in amateur leagues.

If you're good at a certain style of Martial Art and you win championship belts, folks will travel from miles around to train at your gym and pay you big bucks.
First thing's first. Start training in the style you like. Keep training in it for a decade or so. Compete in your style. Get certified as an instructor in it and then you could open a gym.
As far as tournaments, there are some that pay well, most don't pay unless you're a pro.
P.S. Keep it real! :)
