Christians: Why not just rely upon Him for every need and put all of your energy toward the great commission?

Houses, cars, t.v's, boats, jobs, money, prestige, the pride of life, the drive to make the most of yourself can all be 'thorns' that grow up with you as a christian and at the end the thorns will choke you. So instead of pursuing all of these, why not be as John the baptist ??

    I did do that. I devoted 50 hours a month to preaching about the Bible from door to door (as volunteer work). Then I was disfellowshiped (I'd become pregnant as a result of rape, and was forced by my rapist to lie about it).
