What happens when you no longer depend on happiness to be happy?

Then comes the ever sustaining happiness. That needs not support of worldliness instead mercy, grace and kindness of true Guru and Supreme Lord God. But how rare are such a loving devotional worshipers, His beloveds. Such humble being pious persons, rather bestow happiness to all others, who come in Their contacts with great fortune.

I am a sacrifice to those who have heard of You.

I am a sacrifice to those whose tongues speak of You.

Again and again, I am a sacrifice to those who meditate on You with mind and body. ||1||

I wash the feet of those who walk upon Your Path.

With my eyes, I long to behold those kind people.

I offer my mind to those friends, who have met the Guru and found God. ||2||

Very fortunate are those who know You.

In the midst of all, they remain detached and balanced in Nirvaanaa.

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, they cross over the terrifying world-ocean, and conquer all their evil passions. ||3||

My mind has entered their Sanctuary.

I have renounced my pride in my own strength, and the darkness of emotional attachment.

In the Company of the Holy, there is no suffering.

The Blessed Vision of their Darshan brings a sublime, happy peace.

In the Company of the Holy, blemishes are removed.

In the Company of the Holy, hell is far away.

In the Company of the Holy, one is happy here and hereafter.

In the Company of the Holy, the separated ones are reunited with the Lord.

The fruits of one's desires are obtained.

In the Company of the Holy, no one goes empty-handed.

The Supreme Lord God dwells in the hearts of the Holy.

O Nanak, listening to the sweet words of the Holy, one is saved. ||6||

than you are just like most other people; if you take a look around most people are totally dependent on self inflicted misery for their happiness.

if we change the definition of happiness maybe we can get somewhere...but happiness as it stands today is acquisition of power via money, psychological manipulation, and competition. happiness is the pursuit of fleeting moments of mental excitation and then chasing those moments for all of your years on this earth....chasing pleasure and avoiding displeasure is what counts as happiness for most people.

if you personally have changed the definition of happiness than what happens is you now do whatever it is that brings about the state of mind that you now define happiness as.

happiness is a defined state of being...but we must remember that the state of being is temporary therefore illusory and any definition we create while in a state of being is ultimately going to lead to disappointment.

my goal above all else; acceptance

as what you've suggested it relies upon on the persons. per chance some opt to earn a lot of money for his or her happiness. enable say they are satisfied in travelling, so as that they prefer to have the money for for transportation, lodging and pocket money. some are satisfied bringing a competent life to their kin so as that they are merely giving what's fantastic which in certain circumstances needs a lot of money. Others are pleased with their organisation, leisure, series or something which brings fulfillment to oneself. And many of the time we do want the money. :D

You turn to the One, True, and Only Triune God, Creator of the Universe. For only TRUE happiness comes from and can be found in Him.

Forgive others as I have forgiven you.

I’m not here to win a popularity contest, but to witness to and speak the TRUTH.

Then you become peaceful and happiness dawns upon you.

It becomes a gift, rather than something we need to chase.

You cease being dependent.
