A question for Pastors/Preachers about tithing?

If you have a member who 1) Loves God with all their heart 2) Loves their neighbor (the church body and lost souls, etc) 3) Is very active in your church, a very faithful and involved member 4) Does their best to live righteously outside of church too

BUT

They believe tithing is an old covenant Israelite requirement that was nailed to the cross and therefore maybe they contribute to your church but they don't tithe 10-20%, what is your opinion of this person? Do you judge them? Do you prevent them from being a member? Do you not promote them within the church?

Scripture is very clear that we are to give because we want to give and we understand that God has given so much to us that we should help others..........>

God wants a cheerful giver not one of compulsion..........>

You cannot legalistically impose people to give....thats not giving..........>

  • Do you judge them? : No

Do you prevent them from being a member? : again No.

Do you promote them within the church? : Only one is promoted within the church, and that is Jesus

It's time to pray. Ask God what He want you to give. He will place it upon your heart.

I thought I once heard that J.C. Penny tithed 80% of his income to the church.

I applaud you for the true Christian love that you live and share. May God bless and keep you in all that you e you say and do.

this is yet another misunderstanding of scripture. Just like Jesus said to the Pharisees in his time, they missed the point of the law.

this commandment was done away with due to Jesus is the end of the rabbinical law. However, the spirit or point of the law is that God loves a cheerful giver. So being a giver and or hospitable, reflects a personality of God and of Jesus Christ.

So no you don't judge them or prevent them from being a member, you leave that Church or congregation for promoting scriptural burden on a person. Like Jesus parable of the old women giving what she had to the temple.

Tithing was never about money then Nor Now......

and 1) If they Loved God with all their heart they would OBEY His Word ( no matter what anyone else did or said or taught)

    2) If they loved their neighbors and fellow Believers would they not help them in times of need ?

    3) Being active in a man made organization is meaningless, its what they are doing for the kingdom of God not mans idea of it and again IF they Believed they would OBEY the Lord, not men !!

    4) IF they lived a righteous life it would be to the Glory of God by Obeying the word of God and first and foremost they would come out of the man made religious sects....No matter what name was above its doors !!

Now about tithing...it was and Still IS NOT about giving money......do they pray for the Lost ? Do they seek God to learn and Obey Him and His Word ? Do they give their time to God and to help those whom God sends them to ? Do they feed the hungry ? Cloth the poor ? Do they add a few dollars to utility bills to help those ;less fortunate ? Do they speak the Word of God to all they speak to ?......etc etc etc etc

Jesus said when you have done to the LEAST of These my brethren You have done it Unto Me.

That is the Tithe..Not everyone has allot of money nor the ability to do what others do...For to Whom Much is given , Much is required...to whom little is given little is required.......

And if your trying to be a part of some man made place you call a church...first of all Your not doing the will of God..for God Himself stated I dwell not in temples made with hands...and since He does not why are YOU trying to ? Do You need the praise or flattery of man to be seen of men...or Are you willing to be silent and unknown to man, but in Gods will doing and obeying His Word for Him to see and know and not men ?

Most people are men pleasers...but very few are God pleasers........Its God you will give an account of yourself to, not men.....Obey Him and His Word...and leave men out of it...and HE and HE Alone will instruct you what to do...and that includes the tithe.

God owns it all.....so I ask you what can You give God , He does not already own ? That Friend would be YOUR Heart and soul !!!

in the event that they teach it they might desire to set the occasion. Hoever no one can relatively tithe right this moment by way of fact biblical tithes have been continuously in basic terms foodstuff from interior Israel. OT clergymen weren't required to tithe; they have been predicted to supply freewill vow options according to Malachi a million:13-14.

i wouldn't judge them. but i doubt a person who is active in church would not contribute to the church's growth. all christians should know that they are part of the church, so if they say "renevoting the building is not my responsibilty", that is wrong because it IS their responsiblity.. it's not just tradition, its a requirement, where else would the church get money? the government? please, they don't even care..

    ...... but they don't tithe 10-20%

You can't tithe 10-20%. Tithe means tenth. If you give 11%, it is not a tithe.

    lead by example.

Chirst was the best at this and is the standard.

maybe remind him that you do it, maybe he needs to cultivate his personal relationship more, to be more sharing.

maybe he cant afford to do this,

you ahve already past judgement on him (its so in our nature and how we understand things, to label them, this is the ignorance of the ego beleviing it knows everything so can label everything
