I think I'm going to fast for 40 days?
I've been doing a lot of research on fasting and It is supposed to be healthy for your body to not have food to fix your immune system and get rid of toxins. I weigh 145 and am 5, 2". I want to clean up my system and become healthier so that I can get on the right track to lose weight. What do you think about water fasting? I've read numerous books on it and websites and it seems to be good.

If you're fasting Lent the Christian way, this is a good idea. Pick something you use a lot "like if you love soda and just HAVE to have one or two a day, give it up. Just dont' use it for 40 full days and nights. This differs greatly from Islamic fasting in that you only lose one thing and it's continuous all day and night until Easter.

Unless you're juice fasting, fasting for more than 1 to 3 days is not advisable unless you a re under strict medical supervision. Juice fasting, imo, would be the best way to go, but not for 40 days. Also, if you have never fasted before, try eating less per day, to start: for example, if you are used to 3 squares, the next day, try 2 lighter meals with fruits, vegetables, water and juices, to prepare your body for fasting. I would go with a juice fast when ready to start going without food. Maybe try 1 or 2 days first, and then work up to longer fasting days. Best not to be extreme.

Fasting is a terrible idea for losing weight. Your body pretty much shuts down and you have a heart attack.
Let me warn you... This is going to be almost impossible...
Four steps:
1)Do not starve yourself
2)NO FAST FOOD AT ALL!
3)Don't take quick snacks from the cabinet during the day.
4)When your parents offer to take you to pick up a snack, and you aren't starving, decline
5)Drink Milk, screw the soda. Milk will make you taller and less obese (Two Birds with one stone)
6)Do at least three sports every year including 1-3 hrs per day of excercise
7) Spend less time on electronics
8) Try a legitimate weight loss program
9) Eat TONS of fruit and less meat. GET AT LEAST 5 SERVINGS OF FRUIT EVERY DAY.
***Note: It is a LOT harder to lose weight than it is to gain weight
Dangers:
Losing too much weight will cause your body to shut down because your body it is not use to dramatic changes in weight

Hell no. 40 days, dude? That's not good for your body, imo. Not eating for 40 days and only drinking water.. Your metabolism and immune system are gonna get screwed up. All you have to do to clean up your system and become healthier is to just eat right and exercise. Nothing more and nothing less.
