When did U.S. oil consumption exceed our supply of domestic crude ?
I know that in our nations past we produced More oil than we consumed !
then a long time ago that changed and demand exceeded domestic supply.
so what year was that ?
I'm not asking about what we do with all the oil we produce !
this is a simple supply and demand question.
So...
when did U.S. 'demand' for oil become Greater than the amount we 'produce' on a yearly basis ???
I see my mistake....
Instead of saying "Supply" I should have said "Production" !!!

Technically, this has not yet occurred...our surplus is at record high levels and we have even been EXPORTING some of our oil to foreign nations for the first time in many years (see whitehouse.gov for more details). The greed-driven oil industry and dirty-tricks-Koch brothers oil barons, added to speculators on Wall Street, are driving oil prices higher on purpose despite our record level reserves. Why? The almighty dollar and to undermine (they hope) the recovery for political purposes, in collusion with the "hidden agenda" (theocratic coup-seeking) right-wing GOP. Our nation's consumer demands for oil do not exceed our supply.

It diden't. We have enough for the next few hundred years but the lib/dems have blocked our getting it for years. That's a fact.

you are aware that a LOT of OUR oil ends up somewhere else.... aren't you?.....yet we end up buying more from somewhere else..... does that actually make sense to you?.....
edit note added............ we have... today... more oil available to us withing our own borders to meet our needs.... our consumption HAS NOT exceeded our AVAILABLE supply........
