Before SS 1/2 of the elderly lived in extreme poverty. Now it's 10% and that's still too high.

In most other countries they take care of them, Here we penalize and lecture them for not making wise choices.

Sometimes your choices don't pan out and SS is money that we pay into anyway.

No. I think this is a better way of putting it. Liberals want government to be a parent who takes care of children in the most in need of help. Conservatives want government to be a parent who spoils the children least in need of help.
