Windows restarts after adding new ram.?

I am helping my cousin out here. He usually uses me for support but idk the answer to this one. My cousin just bought 16GB of 1333 MHz RAM for his Alienware Aurora R2. He got the pc running it passes the post and the BIOS recognizes the 16GB of RAM. Whenever the pc turns on it goes to the pc was improperly shut down screen, which it was not. He selects start Windows normally, and it starts to boot up, as soon as the Windows start screen finishes loading, the pc restarts and the same process happens. Also, e first time he did this it did say that it recognized the hardware change.

Try just using 4GB and see what happens. If it works with 4GB and nothing above it, it's possible that a 32-bit edition of Windows is installed instead of the needed 64-bit. But even if, usually Windows will be fine with it and just ignore the RAM beyond 4GB.

If there is something else that was removed, reconnect it.
