Windows 7, Explorer 9, automatically downloads, why or how?

can I stop it from changing my computer. Or, how can I get it so my computer can play the games. I system restore it daily so that I can get my task bars back and play games. I know how to get my task bars back, but I do not know how to make them stay permanently. Also, when it downloads, it just makes certain games flash and disappear so that it is really there but won't show you for about only a second. If I system restore, it goes back so I can play the game.

Thank you in advance for your kind and helpful advice/answers.

I'm sorry I'm not that good in these things but I'll help you anyway because you helped me. Also I'm using macbook pro :(

see the tools in your browser, see downloads maybe you'd be able to see auto download off or on.

Try searching in YouTube 'how to turn off auto download in windows explorer 9'

    I hope I helped. Merci

All major browsers are now (or will be soon with Firefox) pushing out updates in a more or less mandatory fashion.

Mostly it's because of security fixes. When older versions are left on a machine, they tend to compromise the user, and in some ways the entire Internet community, by perpetrating 'botnets'.

As to your specific glitches, it may have something to do with add-on's not releasing upgrades for the new version browser; like Java for instance.

See if this won't help (if you absolutely insist on using Internet Explorer):

"Secunia": checks all your 3rd party stuff for updates, and has a one click 'install solution' feature...very handy.

    Freeware. http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/

Note that IE just does not have the control of 3rd party assets (advertising) like Firefox, in a tweaked config.

Have a try with it and see if things don't get better.

Set Firefox as your default browser & use it for everyday tasks.

The following mods help, but methods ("vectors") are dynamic, and users must stay abreast of daily threats.

FIREFOX: Tools> Options> Privacy> top drop menu set to "Firefox will use custom settings..."> Check 'Accept Cookies from sites'

►Un-Check 'Accept 3rd Party cookies'. [ For refined control in FF 11, type " about:config " (sans quote) in the URL> in the search field, type " network.cookie.thirdparty.session " > double click that to yield "true"> close window.]

A good collection of effective add-on's (Official Mozilla) is here:

    https://addons.mozilla.org/collections/dunbar-papp...

AdBlock Plus (with 'subscription' added) & "Better Privacy" also help defray rubbish.

►► At minimum, get the #1 item for malware prevention: "NoScript", which constrains automagically fetching & deployment of potentially tainted assets.

[Bookmark and refer to this page for how it works, and how to use it...very straight forward; http://noscript.net/features#contentblocking
