Tattoos in the air force and coast guard?

I have two tattoos and am considering joining the air force or coast guard. My one tattoo reads "johnny cash" and is on my inner forearm on my left arm. It is fairl large. I also have a stupid homemade tattoo on my back that is just an outline of rectangle. Would these disqualify me

Those are fine for the Coast Guard. The biggest thing is that they can't have offensive content (yours don't) and can't be on the neck, face, head or hands.

You can read the current official USCG tattoo and piercing policy here:

    Good luck!

Sorry Mr. Norm but thats no longer the case. I am in the Air Force and have multiple visible tattoos, visible in short sleeve blues since they are on my forearms and forearms and legs in the PT uniform. In the Air Force you can have no more than 25% of an exposed body part (left arm 25%/right arm 25% etc) tattooed. No neck tattoos as far as i know. If you really want to read into it, the AF reg is - AFI 36-2903, look for tattoos.

Can't speak for the Coast Guard, but in the Air Force you are not allowed to have any tattoos that are visible while wearing any uniform combination, so that means your forearm tattoo is a problem. You'd have to get it removed before they would take you.

You will be fine with those. I have multiple tats, they aren't a problem. So long as it isn't drug or gang related or offensive in some way. Good luck.
