I was going to answer similar to JMITW. It took me 2 years. All of the Dr's agreed that I was disabled except the one SSDI sent me to. The reason I think was because they could not determine with certainly what was causing it or the degree.

When it was approved SSDI said 'the condition was worse than they previously thought'.

I know of people getting approved rather quickly in comparison. I have also seen people that do things that they are not supposed to be able to do and wonder if they are the ones that make it so difficult and slow for others.

It depends on her case, her age will also influence the decision I have heard. I was 47 when I applied with really no medical history except for the previous 2 years after I fell from a considerable height. Even after I was approved for SSDI, medical specialists were still trying to determine the extent and location of damage.

JMITW is very knowledgeable with SSDI. I came to believe that a conclusive diagnosis helps along with a good (detailed) medical history, and age.

I applied for ssi, my mother is on ssdi and also is my aunt, they approved my mother within a couple of months at first they said no then she got it. my aunts case took 2 years and she has MS she had to hire a lawyer. I have schizophrenia and my doctor simply told me to stop working and apply for ssdi i applied and got a lawyer the case is still in its early stages. So really anywhere from a few months to 2 years at most. A lot of people tell me that you don't need representation but i beg to differ a lawyer can organize your case in a way that will make it win they can take additional statements from you and tack that on to the case, plus any internet search will reveal that people who are represented are more likely to get approved.

Anywhere between a few months to 2-3 years. It depends on if she is denied and had to keep appealing and then going in front of a judge .
