My Christian Friend Just Said He Doesn't Believe In Evolution?
We were talking and he said he doesn't believe in evolution.
That means he thinks the earth is 5,000-ish years old.
I don't get it, what kind of idiot would disregard evolution?
Even our immune systems evolve, EVERYDAY.
I just can't wrap my head around it.
(I'm an agnostic atheist)

Many Christians disbelieve the fact of evolution, despite the overwhelming evidence for it. For example, the human fetus, before birth, develops gill slits, ape-like hair, and a tail, and lose these before birth. Additionally, scientists have done an experiment with bacteria, who adapted to varying levels of glucose by changing their genetics, or evolving. Humans tamed wolves to create the hundreds of dog breeds that exist, changing them physically and mentally. The evidence that Christians give against evolution is full of loopholes and circular reasoning. They base this off of the Bible, which does not provide any evidence that any non-Christian would believe. However, our immune systems do not evolve, they adapt. Evolution is the process of changing into different species and changing genetics. Additionally, how can one be an "agnostic atheist". An atheist does not believe in any form of gods or deities, whereas an agnostic is not sure. They are two separate types of belief. Finally most Christians do not believe in evolution, so why are you so surprised? I am atheist, if anyone is wondering.

The question might be better directed to your friend, because we don't anything about him and therefore can't guess what he is thinking. But meanwhile, let's clean up a few messy details.
First of all, while the"young earth" idea often is held by those who deny evolution, it is not always so. There are people who accept the scientifically derived earth's age, but who don't subscribe to evolution.
And evolution is a good working theory to explain how we got where we are, it is not a subject of "belief." It is, rather, something to be accepted or rejected. Belief only comes in when there is not enough data to call something a theory or a fact.
Please do tell what your friend says when you ask him why doesn't "believe" in evolution.

I do not believe in evolution because God created man. I do not believe the Earth is "5,000-ish years old" but more like what scientists say it is, 3 billion years old. This is so because at Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2, there is a major time difference which can range to billions of years. Genesis 1:1 is the creation of everything, the universe, stars, the Erath and inhabitants on the Earth. Genesis 1:2 is the recreation (or restoration) of Earth. If you study the original Greek and Hebrew of the bible, you would agree with me since many things and words have been truncated when translating the bible to English.

area of evolution is observable, experimentally testable and reproducible. parts of the evolutionary kind have not been referred to, examined experimentally or otherwise objectively established. Your pal summarily rejecting each and every thing to do with evolution with out giving it a honest listening to is being as ignorant as those who settle for all of evolution with out giving it a severe evaluate. At this element no component of the evolutionary kind which may be objectively tested is by any potential in competition with the creation account in Genesis. possibly it fairly is a hardship-free floor you may start from and both one among you may income by potential of searching on the data jointly

Well, maybe it's because our immune systems evolve.
Perhaps evolution doesn't take as long as is speculated.
Perhaps not as much evolution has taken place as speculated.

Organisms don't evolve, populations do. Your immune system adapts, not evolves.
It adapts to the viruses that threaten your body which DO evolve, of course.

He's probably been lied to for years by people who didn't even know they were lying and had been lied to for years when they were kids.
