Is Messianic Judaism a Christian religion or not?
I am a Lutheran and I have recently become really interested in Judaism. I found out about the religion of Messianic Judaism. They basically believe the same thing as Jews but they believe that Jesus is God's son and died on the cross to save everyone's sins. I searched Google if it was a Christian religion (seeing as they believe Jesus is God and that's the foundation to Christianity) and one of the results was a book on Amazon called Messianic Judaism is Not Christianity: A Loving Call to Unity". I wondered what the author (Stan Telchin) meant by this. I'm glad that they believe that Jesus is God and all because that gets a person to heaven (that's a Christian belief, please don't stereotype me and think that I am a dumb Christian who thinks his religion is perfect) but I just really want to know if Messianic Judaism is Christian or not before I make the big decision of converting. Thanks so much for your help!!

Note how Christianity and "messianic judaism" are identocal (not a surprise since "messianic judaism" is a Christian sect) and how different "messianic judaism" is to Judaism.
So what is "messianic judaism"? A dishonest missionary sect of Christianity that utilises lies and deceit in an attempt to convert Jews to Christianity. It is universally rejected by every stream of Judaism and its adherents are viewed as Christians by every jewish organisation and not members of the Jewish community inn any manner whatsoever. The small minority on "messianic judaism" (estiated at 2-4%) of its adherents that were ever Jewish according to Jewish law and have converted to Judaism, are seen identically as a jew that has converted to Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism or any other religion, in other words- they are no longer part of the Jewish community and cannot participate as a Jew in any manner whatsoever.
yes, the "messianic jews" will try to claim they are Jewish, some will even lie and tell you they are accepted by the Jewish community. In reality, EVERY stream of Judaism rejects them and converting to "messianic judaism" is essentially converting to another stream of Christianity, though one utilising lies and deceit in an attempt to convert Jews
Asfor the claim that Rabbi Kaduri revealed Jesusas the messiah, that has been disproven long ago. At the age of 101 he had a stroke and never fully recovered. At the time he supposedly wrote the note, he was physically incapable of writing. His son states that the note is not in his handwriting, nor is it possible that he wrote the note due to his physical condition at the time. Of course, missionaries continue trying to perpetuate this myth as they thinkit adds authority to their agenda even though it false

Interestingly, when I first began exploring Judaism I asked this same question. The answer largely depends on who you ask. Many Messianic Jews (Jews who left Judaism) and Christians may argue that what they practice is a form of Judaism, but to Jews who don't believe in Jesus, Messianic Judaism is not a branch of Judaism.
Furthermore, if conversion is what you are seeking, please know that you can't actually convert to "Messianic Judaism." You can worship with Messianic Jews as a Christian, but you cannot become a Jew. Messianic Jewish congregations consider it unnecessary to do conversions because, in the end, you all believe in the same thing - so there's no need to convert into something you already believe in. They may worship in ways not found in the church and claim to be keeping Torah unlike the church, but the so-called Jewish seeming practices have a change in meaning to reflect a focus on Jesus. I've known some to keep kosher and the like, but in serving Jesus, they still serve a god that is not the God of Israel.
I will say that I recently saw a so-called Messianic Jewish congregation advertising that they will do conversions, but most congregations absolutely will not do conversions. Even if you did convert, per my understanding, you wouldn't be considered Jewish by non-Messianic Jews and you wouldn't be considered a Jew for purposes of aliyah.
So, bottom line, since you can't really convert to Messianic Judaism, the only decision to be made here is whether you want to worship with a bunch of Christians and Jews who left Judaism to take on beliefs that go against the Torah. If you're bent on becoming Jewish, you would have to leave Jesus behind. It's up to you. I personally opted to leave Jesus and all of Christianity behind to join the Jewish people.

Dear writer, as a Jew and a believer in Yeshua , I can tell you that Messianic Judaism is not Christianity. Why? Because Christianity has been unfortunately polluted by many pagan practices. Don't take my word for it, read about it. 1st century believers in Yeshua (Jesus, who was a Jew and maintained His Jewishness)) went to synagogue and kept the biblical feasts along with Shabbat. The early Church made the separation excluding anything Jewish from the faith that followed Yeshua. Christianity is a mix of many things. Judaism is the original monotheistic faith. Jews were the first to follow Yeshua therefore making them Messianic. Real Messianic Judaism follows Judaism with the addition of Yesua as Messiah. It is the combination of the old covenant and the new. It is complete. Yeshua said " I did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it" I hope this helps,
Shalom

messianic judaism is a form of Christianity. The two basic flavors were each created by Evangelical Christians with the express purpose of creating a form of Christianity that would be more successful at converting Jews.
Their beliefs are NOT the same as Jews "except they believe in Jesus."
There are very many profound theological differences between their religion and the basic tenets of Judaism such that it is an entirely different religion.
If it makes you feel better, almost all messianic jews are drawn from other denominations of Christianity.

yes they are christian.
EDIT:James want me to prove him wrong? Sure, It would be my pleasure.
Messianic "Jews" Believing in Jesus originated in Christianity (Jesus CHRIST=CHRISTIANS)
Worshipping another God- Idolatry
Their prayers include mention of Jesus and/or of the Holy Spirit. Ceremonies are given Christological spins. ,the three matzot of the Seder have come to symbolize the Trinity and the Seder itself is seen as a recollection of the Last Supper ,<---- Again Christians
So from where Messianic "Judaism" originated from CHRISTIANITY
Adoption of Christian Testament as part of their scriptural tradition. Messianic Jews may still refer to the Tanakh by that name or by Hebrew Scripture, but that does not disguise the fact they have grafted onto their canon the Christian Scripture (New Testament). Whether they read it in Hebrew or in English is irrelevant. The Christian Scripture (New Testament) has never been part of the Jewish Biblical tradition.
The adoption of the Christian concept of original sin
See JAMES THERE ARE MANY PROOF THEY ORIGINATED FROM CHRISTIANITY.

The Messianic movement is 100% Christianity. This movement originated in Europe with the intent of converting Jews by claiming that they could be both Jews and Christians at the same time. Unfortunately for this movement, the Tanach (Jewish Bible) states outright that such a thing is impossible. The best known Messianic group today is "Jews for Jesus" which was created by the Southern Baptist Convention leadership to replace its failed "Mission to the Jews".
The way Messianic Christianity works is that it follows the teachings of Christianity while adopting some Jewish rituals. However, although they incorporate Jewish rituals, they apply fully Christian interpretations that diametrically oppose Jewish teachings and beliefs.
The truth is that the majority of Christians who refer to themselves as Messianics have no Jewish heritage whatsoever.

EVERY person who accepts the Christian New Testament as authoritative is a Christian. EVERY person who accepts the divinity of "Jesus" is a Christian. You are misinformed by someone because Jews most definitely do NOT "basically believe the same thing." If you'll check even your earliest Christian historian (Eusebius), he confirmed for you that there is not, and has never been, one legitimate Jew anywhere who accepted either the New Testament or the divinity of "Jesus." Do yourself a favor and read--and check (as there are also many slanderous lies swilling around about me)--the bios of authors before swallowing what's in their books. Then, if you want to know what Judaism "basically believes," instead of taking the vacuous and misleading word of some Christian who has no clue, go to a well-known Orthodox site (e.g., ou.org) and read it for yourself. BTW, contrary to your Christian Displacement Theology New Testament, belief in "Jesus" is a remnant of Hellenist Roman idolatry that canNOT get anyone to heaven. Educate yourself to your own Christian history. Read Oxford historian James Parkes' book, The Conflict of the Church and the Synagogue.

Normally, the non-Messianic Jews are highly opinionated,
are void of all scriptural references,
they freely boast that their has not been a person in their family that has heard the G-d of Israel speak or consciously known of any care given by G-d for the last 2500 years,
and anyone who claims to know what G-d made them to do with the lives He gave them are "apostate" and not a part of their small club.
And as you look through their scripture-less and G-d-less scriptures attacks on Messianic Judaism, you see that their god is something they care for and not someone that cares for them. At no time will they ever speak about their god in as glowing terms as the Jewish scriptures do. No, their praise and authority figures are reserved for their exclusive club/community and nameless leaders.
In Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost, 120 Jews where filled with the spirit of G-d like all the prophets fulfilling the Jewish scriptures (Joel 2). So no, Messianic Judaism can't be a Christian religion because:
1. All Believers trace their spiritual heritage to these 120 Jews.
2 . The word Christian hadn't been invented yet.
3. There is no event where where anyone in the NT thought they were creating a new religion.
So no, Messianic Judaism isn't a Christian religion...it is the opposite, Christianity is a sect of Judaism.
If you want to get kicked out of non-Messianic Judaism
...rejected by the people and not their god who they boast they have not consciously heard from or been cared for by in 2500 years
...according rules of "apostate" where they can't find one scriptural example in the entire Tanakh even when the conditions would mandate it if it existed.
...to feel the wrath of non-Messianic Jews including those who openly profess not to believe in HaShem, the Jewish scriptures, and that they do not practice Judaism in any form
then openly say you follow the living God of Israel because He cares and disciples you like a Father like all the Jewish scriptures teach. This is the deal breaker for all non-Messianic Jews...and what needs to occur for you to consider yourself a Messianic Jew.
If you want to distinguish between Messianic and non-Messianic Judaism, ask them if they know what God made them to do. As you know all people are unique and so the Creator made them that way for a reason. If the person thinks he/she can do the will of God without knowing what He gave him/her their life to do, they are non-Messianic Jews.
Messianic Jews believe you can't do the will of God without knowing what God made you to do.
Hope this helps
Edit
Please note that the imitation rabbi says that non-Messianic Judaism doesn't believe in the spirit of God or at least won't say if the spirit of God is God.
If the fake rabbi teaches that the spirit of God is a created being, and therefore not God, he would have to find some scripture to support this claim given that the spirit of God is with God prior to the creation.
But if the imitation rabbi says that the spirit of God is God, then Judaism now has two gods according to non-Messianic Jews instead of being monotheistic.
So non-Messianic Judaism teaches what Judaism is not because they lack a core belief of what they all believe. This will not prevent them from coming up with a list. It simply means that the list they use is only used against those they don't want in their club...but that club members don't have to meet the standard.
For example:
What Do Jews Believe?
http://judaism.about.com/od/judaismbasics/a/whatdo...
"Judaism is a monotheistic faith, meaning that Jews believe there is only One God"
Judaism Online
http://www.simpletoremember.com/
Different Sects of Judaism
***A survey commissioned that year by the Central Conference of American [Reform] Rabbis, reported that “...ninety-percent classified their faith with terms like: “Agnostic;” “Atheist;” “Bahai in spirit, Judaic in practice;” “Polydoxist;”***
If Judaism required a belief in God according to the Jewish, then 90% of the Reform rabbis and their congregations would not be considered Jewish....and the Orthodox would need to believe their God is able to speak and act like all Jewish scriptures teach.
This is why Feivel doesn't want you to be able between those who are real Jews and those that are playing dress up...because non-Messianic Jews use a double standard which is forbidden in the Torah. A real Jew would know and teach you the stuff (called the truth) so you could make these decisions for yourself.

It is most definitely a Christian religion. The Messianic movement was started by Evangelical Christians with the intention of making Jews comfortable with Christian ideas and ultimately converting them. The Messianics adopt Jewish customs and practices, and pretend to represent Judaism in order to gain respect and authority in Jewish communities. Some Jews are convinced. Most are not.

Emily said that Messianic Judaism isn't Christianity or Judaism but both. In a way this is true but in another way this is not. You see, God does not want people to mix his word and customs with the religious practices of other nations. I am sure Emily would agree with this herself seeing that she is a Messianic Jew.
What this means is that the religion of God's people should be kept pure. But slowly Christianity adopted religious customs from other nations (often without being aware of it and thinking that these new practices were Christian). But when one reads the New Testament, Jesus does not in any way adopt practices from other nations. Now Jews have a right to say that the practices in the New Testament are different from those found in the Rabbinic tradition (as Messianic Jews have mostly deemed Rabbinic tradition as non-obligatory) yet these new ways of celebrating the Passover, Pentecost etc. are not influenced by other nations but come through Jesus' interpretation of the Torah. Remember that Rabbinic tradition also comes through interpretation.
So a Jew that states that Messianic Judaims is not Judaism must prove that the customs Messianic Jews practice have originated in another culture. They can't do this because it is historically incorect and everybody knows this. But they can say that Messianic Judaism is an "apostasy" since it does not confirm with the recognized Jewish branches.
