Reptile help please?????????????
My friend has a lizard i wantt but i cant remebered what they are called. He told me they are named after an african tribe. It was black with some yellow ish brown. He said they cost about 80 dollars and get around 3 to 4 feet. They are also legal in california. Are very friendly and let people handle them offten and eat aboout anything. Anyone know what they are called?

Kinda sounds like a savanah monitor, though I don't know if the word savanah originally came from a tribe. And saying it's leagal in CA dosen't mean much, your state has some of the most relaxed reptile ownership laws (at least at the state level) in the country, the only lizards that are illeagal to keep are gila monsters, and there are somerestrictions on collecting of some native species.
