I want a reptile like a tegu but smaller?

As I said in your other question, the columbian black and white tegus are smaller, and very calm. They normally don't exceed 3'. They tend to have a more "speckled" pattern. The argentine black and white tegus are the larger, along with the reds. They can get 4.5 - 5'. They also tend to have a more vertically striped pattern. There is really nothing else quite like a tegu that small. Blue tongue skinks are very cool lizards and don't get very big. But they are a bit more work in my opinion. You should search through some reptile forums. You can get an idea of different lizards and what you might like.

Try a skink. They're pretty cool looking, and many of the species I've seen in the pet trade get large, but not in the 2-3 feet range. Do some research and look into it. However, a reptile should always have a cage to be in... And never let one free range in your home or room unless you're with it.

Why not try a moneter lizard because they are very calm and you can hold them whenever you like they are also funny. p.s they can grow very big so get a baby one

Get a crested gecko! You can find them almost everywhere!
