Try Donald Westlake's Dortmunder series. John Dortmunder is a crook who can plan any caper ; but Fate always sticks it to him. Although, technology has outdated many of his stories (the series began in 1967); the cast of colorful characters and extremely clever plots make the series worth reading. Westlake was a grandmaster of the Mystery Writers of America and won several Edgars for his works which can best be described as comedic crime capers. The series begins with "The Hot Rock" and includes 13 novels and a collection of short stories, "Theives' Dozen."
Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game" begins a rather unusual series. The original trilogy was followed up by a retelling of the story through the eyes of supporting characters. None the less these sci-fi tale are well thought out and worth reading.

So many....
John Connolly's Charlie Parker series (Be prepared for extremely violent scenes but great story telling)
The Bourne Trilogy (Ludlum characters are unbelievably complex and intelligent so they're a challenge to follow, but in the good way)
The Game of Thrones series (I haven't read them but I hear great things about them)
Dan Brown's Robert Langdon series (very action packed)
The Narnia Series (oldie but a goody)
Earthsea Series (also old/good)
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Stephen King Dark Tower series

Not a sequence however you would ordinarily revel in 'The Handmaid's Tale' and 'Oryx and Crake' by way of Margaret Atwood as you look to revel in dystopian futures. My possess favourites amongst that style are Ray Bradbury's 'Farenheit 451' and John Wyndham's 'The Chrysalids'

I'm a Laurell K. Hamilton's fan. She writes series about vampires for the adults and the fairy series also for the adults. If you haven't read them yet, then you should try those. They are full with action, fantasy, adventure, and they are very kinky too.
