Do crab apple trees need to be planted in pairs?

I've heard this but didn't know if it was true. Just planted one and would like it to flourish.

No. They can be planted alone. Here is how to plant one.

For flowers, singles are fine. Most produce fruit without a pollinator....I'm trying hard to think of a variety that does need a pollinator......can't think of one.

Apples, yes, most need a different variety (specific) to produced fruit.....only a few, like Golden Delisious, do well all alone.
