How to deal with dog jealousy?
I have two female pugs. The older one is Gabby, she is 9. The younger one, Lucy, is 5. We have had them both since they were puppies. They are usually on pretty good terms, Lucy loves to lick Gabby, Gabby doesn't seem to mind. They will sleep right next to each other.
The problem is that Gabby will sometimes get jealous if Lucy is sitting with one of us. She will stare at her and then run over. This will often result in a dog fight. Neither of them will back down and they need to be broken up by force.
I have tried to snap Gabby out of it when I see her staring at Lucy, but if anything this only causes her to challenge Lucy faster. I'm getting a little sick of this, does anyone have any ideas?

Sure, there are specific training methods you can use. Available in most libraries..

Watch dog whisperer!! oh and try to give them equal attention. If one of them starts get jealous or mean then take 2 fingers and kinda poke them and say sshh! Might sound weird but it works =)
Oh and if one is like trying to act dominant over you or the other dog (which by being jealous they are thinking they own you kinda) then take them and genlty lay them on their side holding their neck down until they cool down.

Give them equal amounts of attention, and find books on training dogs not to do that. Sometimes dogs will be slightly stubborn, but if you stick to the rules in the books, things should get better.

training will fix most of this.. things in obedience like stay and sit and lay down .. and fetch.. and especially name recognition. If the dogs learn a job and develop a discipline that is centered around you they will soon learn that they are pleasing you by just sitting quietly and waiting for you to return attention to them
