How to make heavy 'vegan' cream?

I have a pasta recipe that calls for heavy cream but want to make a dairy free version, how can I make a 'vegan' cream or can you buy this?

Update:

Will the taste of coco milk, etc affect the overall taste of the meal?

Put a can of full-fat coconut milk in the fridge overnight. Open it and scoop out the hard milk on the top. Save the liquidy milk for a smoothie or something.

Mimicreme also makes a vegan soy cream.

The new style coconut milk is not as strong as the canned type, the thicken soya and coconut milks are best, I do this but you need to heat them slowly, I pulse in the microwave, add the starch, I use tapioca and stir, this tend not to curdle them, I have made alfredo sauce with them before adding a load of garlic sauteed in oil, soya cheese and to mimic the bite of dairy parmesan a dash of Vegemite or Nutritional yeast does the trick too.

Yes, using other kinds of "cream" will affect the overall taste of the meal.

Soy or coconut milk and 1 or 2 tablespoons of cornstarch.

I am listing some sites. Check them out and see which meets what you need. The first are things to purchase, the last is a recipe.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.
