the massive problem with white sugar is that extremely highly processed, and its the processing of the sugar is actually the causes most of the health problems.
honey is far better as it is completely natural, and it has vitamins and minerals that are good for your immune system. however, sugar still can cause diabetes in any form, only in high doses though, so replacing honey for sugar is really good, but do cut down on how much you use.
raw sugar and brown sugar are also better than white sugar since they are less processed.
raw sugar isnt processed at all which is good, but it has very little health benefits.
brown sugar is still better than white since it is not processed as much, but like all commercial sugars, it still has little health benefits.
in summary, the order of sugars from best to worst is: honey>raw sugar>brown sugar>any other sugar>white sugar
and it is best if your family has a history of diabetes that you cut your sugar intake.
when you buy foods or snacks, look on the packet for how much sugar it has; this can be found in the nutrition panel. a good way to think visually how much sugar is in it is to get the number of grams of sugar it has, and divide by 5. that number is how many teaspoons of sugar are in it. (drinks like coke have 16 teaspoons of sugar in one can! and over 64 teaspoons in a 1.5L bottle!)

Honey has more carbs and calories than sugar so there will be little if any difference between using that over sugar. If you are not going to use sugar substitutes then something like agave might give you a small reduction in sugar spikes as the fructose has to be broken down to glucose and will enter your blood a little slower.
