The Real ID act kicksoff Jan 2013 for driver licenses and state IDs. Without a Real ID, you will be required to show a US passport or a foreign passport and valid visa to board a FAA aircraft. I'am sure people will miss flights because they have none. BTW, federal buildings will require Real IDs to enter too.

2 weeks ago i renewed my military ID card. I had to have a photo and my fingerprints taken. The ID card is scannable too. You can not get one unless you are in the DEERS. You may have a good looking fake but when it's scanned, it will be kicked back. This is a picture of things to come. SS cards, driver licenses, greencards, the day is coming all cards will be verified in a few seconds.

BTW, there are not such things as undocumented aliens, they are illegal aliens.

I don't see how it helps them really. You'd need a fairly complex and convoluted fraud scheme to have some other guy show up to vote for a registered voter who wasn't going to show up at the polls on election day. The lack of a photo ID requirement won't allow undocumented aliens to register to vote, so I can't see how it helps them.

There used to be a little libertarian streak in many Americans that was against requiring photo IDs for a lot of reasons. The big one was that people didn't feel you should be required to "show your papers" to travel freely around the country (that's what those crazy soviets do!). Part of freedom is being allowed to travel within our country without having the government keep tabs on where you went and what you were doing there. Every new "show your papers" requirement takes us one step closer to "you must allow the government access to your lojack if you wish to drive". It's important to look past the one problem or cause a political action is trying to affect, and see that change will change the landscape for future politics.

Our photo IDs are a joke. Why do you trust a drivers license clerk to do your immigration? Why isn't there a National ID that everyone must carry?

It does not matter at all.

Who ever wants to circumvent any law, will find a way ALWAYS.

To ask Voters to jump through hoops to vote is totally asinine.

We should be much more worried about People who do not vote.

And Voter Fraud is a total myth.
