If I am saved by grace alone, I have no desire to sin. I want to please my Lord

That's a good question. The word grace means "unmerited favor". We do not merit God's favor before our conversion experience, and neither can we merit it afterwords. We are saved and kept saved by the grace of God. The blood of Jesus Christ continually cleanses us from the guilt of sin. We are much more sinful than we imagine, and God's grace is much greater than we imagine.
But the apostle Paul addressed this question in Romans 6. He asked, "What shall we say then, shall we continue in sin that grace might increase?" And he answered with an emphatic "no". The reason being, is that the Christian has been made into a new spiritual person by their identification with Christ. The old spirit within, which generated all manner of sin, has been put to death. And in it's place we have been given the Holy Spirit who lives within us. And so now it is the Holy Spirit who is shaping our thoughts, desires, motivations, and convictions. Though we may still struggle with the old ways that have been ingrained into our physical being, we now have the power by God's Spirit to be transformed and live a new life unto God.

there would be a difference between having sin as an exception to your christian walk and continuing in sin as described in 1 john 3 compared to 1 john 1.9 to 2.2. chrislandwer@yahoo.com

God weighs the intents of the heart. God is not mocked or held to a technicality. If a person goes through the motions of baptism, going to church, but never plans to repent of their sinful ways, are nominal Christians. Jesus says that not everyone who says, "Lord, Lord" will enter heaven.

What did Jesus say to the prostitute when she believed? He said "Go and sin no more."
If you are in a relationship with Jesus, would you only expect him to do his part? Where is
the love in that?
Yes, we will keep sinning, but don't stay in it! We are a new creation and we are to grow in
His wisdom. We are no longer a part of the world but a part of His Kingdom.
God bless you :)

The point is that God's grace will save you from sinning. Your assumptions are wrong.

Yes Christ has forgiven your sin, but not the freedom to continue to live in sin.
Forgiven yes but never sinless.
