First of all, what do you mean by a sin? If you mean in the Christian, biblical sense, then not exactly, no. However, if you love food more than God, that is your sin.
If you have a slow matabolism, and you find you always gain weight no matter what, you are not at fault (entirely, you may have made poor dicisions in the past). However, if you cannot peel yourself away from food, and you crave more all the time without stopping... You have a serious problem, and should probably get help.

No, but i do agree that if you are being gluttony and greedy, its wrong, but a lot of people are born overweight, through family genetics or whatever it may be. A lot of overweight people don't eat lot and aren't greedy. So its not a sin to be overweight, God made everyone flawless , so was long as you just don't desecrate his image he made in you, i dont see it as a sin.
My Opinion.

Being overweight is not a sin. Certain habits that can sometimes lead to being overweight can be sins - laziness or gluttony, for example. But there are many reasons why a person might be overweight, including medical or genetic factors, which cannot be helped.

I'm sure some very fanatical Christians would see it that way.
I think that it shows, sometimes, a lack of self control and poor choices in our eating and other lifestyle habits. But I would hardly call it a 'sin'.

Then baby I'm a big sinner! Being overweight means not being able to control one's emotions.....placing more emphasis on wants and not actual needs. It means sitting on one's bum answer questions on Yahoo! than doing more physical activities.

No but gluttony is. Not everyone has good metabolism, especially those of us w/ thyroid disease.
God bless
