How to find frogs/toads in my backyard?
There have been multiple frogs/toads (not sure which) in my backyard lately and they are so loud! It is starting to become annoying. They croak back and forth constantly once the sun starts going down. I went to look for them, but everytime I go out there, they stop croaking, so I can't find them, even with a flashlight. How can I find and catch them so I can take them back to the pond I'm sure they came from (it's right down the street)? I DON'T want to kill or hurt them. I would be fine with them, except I can't sleep or concentrate with all the noise they make!
Thanks! (:

i get the same problem every year here in texas. what i do is let my (3, very large) dogs outside before bed every night. they would never eat the toads, but sure scare the things. but just in case you dont have a couple dogs lying around: frogs/toads tend to hide in dark, moist places. such as burrowed into garden soil, under stacks of wood or low hanging plants, or even in the back corner of a shed if they can get in there. not sure if this helps, but good luck!

They sound like newly transformed toads of some species. They are terrestrial, and do not require lakes. They breed in temporary, shallow wetlands. First, you should remove them from the "pit"; they will die if you leave them trapped in there. Cover it so no more fall in. If you keep one, feed it tiny, live invertebrates. They eat a lot, and frankly are sort of a pain to keep, depending on what species you have. I recommend against it.

The sounds you hear are joyous love songs. The noise only lasts a couple of weeks. By they have all found their mates and laid their eggs. Rejoice in the love songs. Don't try to destroy them.
If you must find them, use a flashlight.

Normally the are in your roof guttering, Best way is to cut back all the trees that overhang on your roof. so they can no longer jump on the roof with such ease.
