What is the most thought provoking anime you have ever seen?

You learn something new in each episode, there are depths to each scene, or it makes you ask what, how, and seriously. Examples: Evangelion, Kino's Journey, Higurashi, so forth. What anime really made you think?

    Evangelion was a trip for sure.

    Elfen Lied was also just great.

    But since those two were already mentioned i would have to say...... Akira

    I know its not a show but its an anime movie. I think that still counts lol

    Haha, and here is me, to tell you of two terribly little known animes...

    Speed Grapher, and Serial Experiments Lain. But if you'd like something a bit less "WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO MY MIND," I would suggest Black Butler.
