ac orfice tube clogged --would that cause no cool air?
my ac on my car is on the fritz. I believe I have narrowed it down to 2 items. Either my orfice tube is clogged or my compressor has crapped out.
No low pressure but plenty of high pressure on the gauges...no cycling of compressor..jumped all the normal places,...relays and fuses..the clutch is kicking in but not cycling.
What are your thoughts?

you will need to put some freon in first to determine the problem,if you have no pressure on the low side then that is a sign of a leak.I would think that if the orfice tube were clogged the pressure would like peg out on the gauge.,,,,,

I don't have a clear understanding of what you are seeing. If the low pressure side is showing pressure like the high side is, the compressor is not working. If the orifice tube is clogged the compressor is toast anyway because there is no oil getting back to the compressor.
This is a job for an auto AC professional. I got involved in a lot of refrigerant loop work back in the days of R12 but R134a is an entirely different animal. If your compressor is not bad now it is likely to be bad by the time you get this sorted out, either from running with undercharge (which starves the compressor for oil) or from overcharge (which breaks the compressor with slugs of liquid). Add to that the complexities of four different oils being in common use, and other oddities, and A/C service is now beyond the capabilities of most professional mechanics.

Yes a clogged orfice tube will cause no cool. But if its clogged then you need to drain the system and take the orfice tube out and see whats in it. It could be the compressor blew up or the drier bag came apart. If the compressor blew up you need to take all the lines apart and flush the system, replace the drier and orfice tube and compressor. Add oil and evacuate and recharge.........Sounds like you might be in over your head so it may be agood idea to take it to a qualified mechanic to do the repair. To replace the compressor and do all necessary to fix it you are looking in the ball park of $1000 to fix it...........................&&&

Sounds like you have a restriction somewhere and the orifice tube or block depending on the vehicle is a good place to start, and also replace the accumulator as well, and flush the entire ac system before recharging it to get all the trash out of the system, or you may well end up plugging it up again very soon!

Yes High High side and low return could indicate what you suspect. i'd also say a low side pressure switch but if you have jumpered it and also checked with the gauge I'd say you found it.
