Question about the death of Severus Snape?

Well I heard that, when they went to retrieve his body from the Shrieking Shack, they found nothing but a Phoenix feather in the spot where his body was.

Is this true? Because, many theorize he may have lived, and honestly, I like the idea... Didn't read the books, just saw the movie.

If you have any info to fuel a survival theory, please tell. Thanks in advance!

The other responders are right, it is clear from the books that Snape is dead. The idea about the phoenix feather came from a humorous article: see sources, below.

I'm quite curious to know where you heard that?

In the book, Harry watches on as Voldemort commands his snake Nagini to attack and kill Snape because he believes that the way for him to have full power over the Elder wand is to kill the person who killed Dumbledore, ultimately the 'owner' of it.

However of course this is untrue as we find out later.

Anyway, after Nagini attacks Snape, Voldemort and the snake depart. Allowing Harry to go into the shack and sit by a dying Snape, retrieving his memories, so that he can understand the truth.

    Harry watches as Snape dies.

There is no phoenix feather. please add to your question where you heard this information, I would love to know.

No. Nowhere in the books does it mention that - people who haven't read them have just made it up. Personally I think he should stay dead. He was, underneath, a brilliant man, and one of the bravest men in the books, and he had no real reason to live on. His love was for Lily, and there is no way that he's got anything more to live for now that the war's over, despite Dumbledore's futile efforts previously. Harry and a few members of the Order were the only ones that knew he was a spy, to everyone else he killed Dumbledore and was on the side of the Death Eathers - he died a hero's death in a way, and it was quiet and fitting for a man of his character.

But to answer your question - No. There was no feather, and he was bitten by Nagini - poisoned by her venom. He died in Harry's arms, remember?

Nope, Severus Snape died. What you read is probably someone's Head Canon.

Voldemort had the snake kill him because he thought the Elder wand belonged to Snape. I remember nothing about a phoenix feather, but I am certain Snape died. Hope that helped. :)
