Seniors, Silliest Senior Moments?

I often find myself laughing at my odd senior moments.

The most recent was this: I was starting to wash up at

the kitchen sink, and was just adding a drop of fairy

liquid into the sink when the doorbell rang followed a

few seconds later by the phone ringing.

I answered the door, took in a parcel delivery,

then quickly checked the answer phone to

see if it had been an important call.

On returning to the kitchen, I noticed that

the water had a greenish tinge to the colour.

Some silly old fool had put Miracle Gro into

the washing up water. !

When I told my daughter about it, she laughed

her head off and said, Perhaps your side plates

will grow into Dinner plates, Dad. :))

What is your most recent episode of Senior

Moment Daftness?

Lol Malcky, I have too many to mention. In fact I've lost count of the times I've gone shopping to our corner shop wearing my slippers, the staff there will think I don't own a pair of shoes...ha.

Another senior lapse here is when I'm putting the shopping away and later realise I've misplaced my purse or keys, the first place to look is the fridge or larder...lol.

In a moment of apparent senility, I woke up one day thinking I could still multitask. I went to the kitchen to brew some coffee and feed the dog...while the coffee was brewing I decided to run to the basement to throw a load of laundry into the washer. Went back up to the kitchen to discover the dogs dish still sitting on the counter with the last of my coffee creamer in it...so I had to drink my coffee black, which I detest. So I take my (black) coffee back down to the basement, so I can sit on my computer and wait for the laundry to finish...I glance over at the running wash machine, and on top of it sits the full cup of detergent that I had neglected to put INTO the washer.

    Very cute story!

I've been absentminded or distracted enough since I was in my 20's to do something like that!

While visiting my daughter, I had just finished a bath and lotioned up with St. Ives, I particularly like that lotion. After dressing, I realized I had lotioned with St Ives body wash!

Although this didn't happen to me, it is a true story repeated by a friend of a friend. Man goes to airport, gets out of running car to take out luggage, walks into airport, boards plane and flies to Aruba. His car in the meantime is still running and police need to come to check for bombs etc not knowing why it's there with no one near or in it. How's that for a senior moment. Hope he didn't get a sunburn on his trip.

Oh, I am so glad to see there are people besides me that do daft things. ha ha This is my most recent 'Senior Moment'.

I had been grocery shopping and drove home. I took the shopping indoors then decided to put the car away in the garage which we rent from the council and is 100 yards from our house. I got back in the house and was hanging up the keys on the hook - house key, car key but there was no garage key. I searched in all my pockets and handbag - no key. I walked back to the garage, thinking I may have dropped the key and there, facing me, was the open garage. The up-and-over door was still up, the car sitting there. When I pulled down the door, the key was still in the lock.

How could I have just walked away, forgetting to actually pull the door down and lock it? I sometimes think I am going doolally.

Had a very close call just yesterday. Instead of my body gel I picked up the bottle of hair conditioner and almost washed with it until I noticed the color wasn't quite right on my scrubbing puff. I guess it just would have made my skin nice and manageable though. Maybe I'll try it on purpose some day.

It's called 'multitasking while the mind is preoccupied.'

Incidentally, what are you doing in 'Culture and groups..?'

Some time ago I made a fruit cake then popped it in the oven to bake, but when I couldn't smell the aroma of it cooking, as you do, I opened the oven to check and to my horror it wasn't there and to top it all the oven wasn't even on either. I found it sitting in the fridge instead. Twitty me!
