Hobart handler 115V welding question...?
I purchased a hobart handler 125 and i'm wanting to build an ATV Trailer. I just ordered the gas regulator and will be running 75%Argon25%Co2 mix.I know it says it will do up to 1/4" thick but will it actually penetrate GOOD on 3/16"thick square tube? Obviously i don't want my trailer falling apart on the freeway with 15 grand worth of toys on it. I can lay decent welds but I'm still learning the rope's. I can't afford a 220V welder at the moment and don't have an outlet available yet either. Thanks for the help!

Look at it again, the rating of 1/4 is listed with using flux cored wire. The gas shielded wire looses penetration so at 3/16 you are maxed out. Bevel your welds and make multiple passes if necessary.

Most welders are over-rated. (meaning they are rated for more than they can actually weld)
you should have a 220 for 1/4 inch. It might work on 3/16".
Weld some together....stick 'em in a vise and BEAT on 'em to see if they break.
I have a 110V miller and have welded a couple of things that may have been a little much for it, but never had anything break. I eventually bought a Miller 252 that will weld 1/2" because i want the confidence that my welds will not break

No it won,t weld any thing over 1/16 inch thick
you will need a 220 volt mach with a rating of 90 amps or more,
as you said your trailer will fall apart other wise,

Make more than one pass. After laying your first bead, make another bead catching only half of the first bead and the metal. Then make a third pas catching the Other half and the top part of the metal. You can lay as many beads stair-stepping out ward as you want.I suggest at least 3 passes per joint.
