Is this hypocritical of my mum...?
She hates Slipknot and Marilyn Manson despite never listening to a song from either, and calls their music 'dark', yes, it is, but she hasn't even listened to it so she can't really say anything on the subject.
She hates MM because he wears makeup, yet she loves Alice Cooper. -_-
She hates Slipknot because of their masks, and she heard some rumors about them being satanists and promoting Satan and Hell, yet she loves AC/DC and used to like King Diamond.
I don't like MM but I think she's being a hypocrite, I do however, like Slipknot, they're one of my favorite bands.
She says I can't buy any Slipknot merch (with my own money) because she doesn't want me bringing 'this satanic crap' into her house.
I also wasn't allowed to go to a concert where MM and Slipknot would be at, for no real reason.
Do you think this makes her a hypocrite?!
I'm 13, I like NIN better than Manson, but seriously, Slipknot isn't even that heavy, they're nu metal! What?! Is she going to say Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park are satanic next? Sheesh.

How old are you? I'm huge Marilyn Manson and NIN fan and both of my parents have always protested against me listening to them. They gave up when was about 16-17. Although when I was 17 I wanted to order a Mechanical Animals poster and they wouldn't let me. At least she can't stop you from listening to what you want to, which is what music is really about anyway.

Since when is ACDC satanic? O.o...even their lyrics don't implore such.
You don't actually seem to know what hypocrisy means...your mother doesn't sound hypocritical, just a typical woman that grew up in the 70s/80s and likes music from that time.
Despite this...why does it matter? If your mother doesn't like your music then just don't listen to it. You want the 'merch' so much then buy it with your own money and keep it in your room out of her sight. When you're 18 and out of home you are free to spend whatever money you wish on band items she doesn't like.
