Why do teenage girls feel the need to have boyfriends?

I'm a Freshman in High School and I've been noticing most girls wanting a boyfriend, badly. They impress guys by dying their hair, applying a lot of make-up, and dressing in revealing clothes. What happened to being natural? I really don't see the point of having a boyfriend in High School. Most teenage guys are immature and only want one thing, so why bother? Some of my friends go for total jerks that leave them heart broken, but they go look for another one. I don't understand why girls can't focus on their education first and date in college. Why do teenage girls feel the need to have boyfriends?

I believe its because its everywhere in the media, magazine and all around us. Most of them believe they will feel love and feel accepted by that person. Little do they realize that most teenage relationships aren't like that and in the end they will be more hurt then before then loved. Some teenage girls become pregnant and their world is turned upside down. The dad either denies the baby or walks out on her.

Them dressing a certain way may be to make themselves feel prettier and better about themselves not just to attract the opposite sex. We are shown everywhere these gorgeous models and it's obvious even as adults we want to look like them let along teenage girls.

I think what we need to do is teach them that they are better then that and to offer them love and support as parents instead of judging them. When our teenagers come to us we often ground them or get mad at them if they wonder about sex or relationships. We should make them feel more confident and free into talking to us. We also have to remember we were teenagers at one point with raging hormones.

Because not all guys are the same. I'm 15 and I've been dating my bf for a year now. He's a total sweetheart. I guess they're scared of being alone. If they wear all of that and dress that way, they seem pretty desperate.

Why do some people feel the need to be all high and mighty because they don't do things everyone else does.
