Any one have an idea why the refuse pump for the basement washing machine keeps cycling on and off, although n?
keeps cycling on& off although no one is washing. I hear water being pumped out. Is my flapper valve going?
No it is a refuse pump as there is also a bathroom in the basement. The flapper valve I wondered about is on the up pipe and is to keep flow from upstairs from ending up downstairs.

I don't know why it wrote the details 3 times.
I don't hear water running to refill any toilet tank, except after flushing
so the ball cocks are fine. I am on a well and I don't hear the pump running
to replace leaking water except after heavy water use . During the day I am
mostly upstairs and I live alone so I know when water is being used.
This pump thing will happen maybe a couple hours after using water upstairs
and then again a couple hour later, and the only water usage has been from the
upstairs toilet been flushed.
.
I had my septic tank pumped this past fall, so I know I am good there.

The bathroom is passing water (leaking faucet, stopcock in the toilet malfunctioning?) and running through where the washing machine is plumbed (if you think this sounds desperate, you're right, be very unusual). How about a problem further down the line, water's coming back up? Could need to get the drains outside opened up.

Actually, it's probably the sump pump - the one that keeps the basement dry. It's supposed to run whenever the water in the pump well rises above a specific point.
