My totem animal? Am I doing this right?

I have many aboriginal friends , and they've told me about totem animals, and I was really curious to see if I could find mine. I asked my friends father, a well known man in our town , and he said it toke deep meditation to be able to meet your totem animal. Now, when I got home I looked up more information on it, and I decided I wanted to try. Everyone tells you to relax and calm down and close your eyes and image a place and then you find a door... I don't understand, I don't see anything, but I really do want to find my totem animal, my friend said she had found hers. It was a raccoon. Can anyone help, I want to know, but I just can't see.

Here's one way to do it:

First, find a place that is quiet and preferably dark where you can concentrate undisturbed.

Next, make sure that you are not under an electric line or over an underground line and that all electric motors near you are unplugged.

Then, sit in a comfortable position, touch your thumbs to your second fingertips, close your eyes, and consciously relax your body.

Next, envision yourself at the top of a cliff or mineshaft or elevator shaft or escalator or staircase. Take a step down or imagine yourself riding down on an elevator or escalator or car or whatever. As you go down one level, envision a "1" and relax more. Go down another level, envision a "2," and consciously relax more By the time you have gone down 10 levels, you should be completely relaxed and separate from the mundane world around you.

Get down to level 20, and you might find yourself in a room with a door or in a meadow or on a beach or somewhere else that you totem animal can find you.

When you are ready to come back to the mundane, do it slowly. You don't have to come back as slowly as you went away. However, you want to come back in a relaxed manner. Take it one step or level at a time. When you are back where you started, take your time in reacclimating to the mundane.

If you are at all inclined to believe that opening yourself up to your totem animal might also invite unwanted spirits or demonic possession, you might want to surround yourself with a salt circle. Just saying.

The animal spirits whose qualities we most associate with or those animal spirits which most associate with us. These are qualities that we feel most connected to or qualities that are connected with us. It is a simple belief, that we are all connected, humans, animals and mother earth.

Our animal spirits (totems) can guide us through all or certain parts of our lives. An easy way to learn your totem is to find a quiet place and concentrate or meditate. Don't try too hard or your totems will elude you. It is possible to have several totems and these totems can change as we change throughout life.

Every animal on earth is sacred, revered or has spiritual meaning in one culture or another. Just as the Eagle symbolizes unity, strength and freedom for the United States. Below we list the symbolic meaning of animals in many Native American Indian traditions.

  • Nonsense.

No Native person told you this at all. There are no such things as animal spirit guides, animal totems or the like. New age nonsense invented by the tarot deck toting, crystal wearing crowd.

What is commonly called your totem by the English speaking world, is your odoodem....Clan. Your family. It is an animal.....but it isn't your animal. You are born into it........

I tried this too out of curiosity! I got the wolf. First you have to be comfortable, lay down or sit on your bed and before you close your eyes observe your surroundings. When you close your eyes and sink deep into meditation (focus and relax) imagine the same surroundings of your room, except imagine a light vortex/door. Imagine yourself entering and going to a big field, what's in there depends on your personality/mood. I usually see a path with huge trees aligned in the right and left, the season is autumn and there is was a wolf running into leaf piles playfully. It's really fun to meditate and imagine stuff or just day dream, i don't really take this seriously I do it for fun.. But I really feel connected to wolves, they're my favorite animals.

Hope you have fun with that ~

i chanced on mine by desires. I continuously dream of fish, so I felt it became precise. I even have been informed I could desire to meditate on it... yet i'm lazy. i individually do no longer see something incorrect with telling people what your totem is.

Imagine your favorite place in nature. Look around. If you nee a door, move towards it. Are you walking? Crawling? Slithering? Go into the door. Inside is a beautiful light (your soul) and a mirror. Look in the mirror, what do you see? If it is an animal, what animal?
