Is It True That One Direction Have To Change Their Name?

There is an american band who it seems can prove they were using the name 1d since 2009. They are demanding 1 million Dollars and a slice of their profits. Its always been said Harry thought up the name. The manager of the American band,who is also the Father of the lead singer says he contacted Simon before the tour but Simon ignored him. He says he wont be pushed around by Simons mighty machine.

The other band look quite sinister and sing out of tune,but Simon may have to pay them off with a couple of million.Peanuts to the boys who are taking that in a week.

The "other" One Direction, from California, say the UK band used the name without asking permission first. They were originally going to get sued, but Simon Cowell payed the other One Direction band to drop the lawsuit and allow the UK One Direction to keep their name, so no, they won't be changing their name.

I've heard the US one direction were planning to sue Simon Cowell for 1 million but don't know if the UK One Direction have been forced to change their name yet.

Wow that would be a blow lol but if the California band copyrighted the name then they have no choice but to pay them off (the most likely option) or change their names which would severely damage their careers.

I don't think they are going to change the name, after all they already succeeded worldwide so how could they change their famous name? I believe the US One Direction wants publicity and money. Since they are suing.
