how likely is is for a hamster to cope with anaesthetic?

My hamster has to have anaesthetic tomorrow, people have said she might not pull through how correct is this?

Update:

Im not sure how long, she has laryngitis and is being treated by the vet. She hasn't eat properly or drank so shes having anaesthetic to sort out her mouth as she has swollen tongue and lumps.

Well those small ones don't take it very well. I've had lots of rats go under surgery. About 5 either to remove tumors or to have their balls removed. Well, out of those only one didn't pull through. I had two 5 week old boys go into surgery to get neutered and one died. And rats are bigger than hamsters. But don't worry about it.
