How much space will cantaloupe, butternut squash, and acorn squash take up?

Would a 7' x 9' area of land be enough space for these plants if planted on hills? And how do the vines for each grow-- do they all sprawl or do any vine upwards?

    10 square feet easy, sprawl

there are bush varieties you should investigate. Minnesota midget cantaloupe, bush delicata, acorn, crookneck and patty pan squash, and bush sugar baby watermelon are good starters

I have grown cantaloupe and butternut squash. Because I have a critter problem, I put an 8 foot circle of 30" chicken wire around each "hill". That was adequate, would not go smaller than that.

The vines sprawl on the ground, but you can sort of point them in the direction you want them to go.
