    -8x^2y * -2xy^3 = 16x^3y^4

    Answer:16x^3y^4

Source(s): _________________________________________________ x^a * x^b = x^(a+b) where a and b are real numbers. Other rules about exponents can be found here http://www.purplemath.com/modules/exponent.htm Edit: Yup, negative * negative = positive

    Negative and negative make positive.

    So -8x-2 gives you 16.

x^2 time x gives you x^3, since you add the powers when you times it.

    y x y^3. = y^4

    So it gives you 16x^3y^4
