WHY? Now a days there is no or less emphasis on awareness on population control in India?

Earlier there was much of publicity for population control, emphasising the use of Birth control pills or condoms..... then there was we TWO ours TWO............. then there was One children per family................ In every cinema govt screened the documentary to control population.

Now in the recent past Govt has not shown keen interest on Population control WHY?

Update:

VEERS sir, i agree to an extend, but how about the rural people, slum dwellers, not to mention Minority religions ( who are adment to grow in numbers!!! ).

Update 2:

More the population...the more can be budgeted for...more buyers for 3rd class stuff dumped into departmental stores...more travelers on cattle class...more poor people who can be given one bottle of brandy...a color tv and 1 kg rice for Rs 1...during election...and in exchange of more votes...population control has its drawback in a corrupt capitalistic environment...The govt had realized it...late...and stopped it...the control is active only in urban cities...and townships...not in villages...Minority explosion is the reason we need a Uniform Civil code...for all the citizens of India...irrespective of whichever religion...

If you go to any Muslim slum area...each family has at least 6 kids...and they are really poor...cant afford basics...but they want to increase their religious population...so din raat kaam chaloo hain...i am ashamed to say that India is a democracy...What democracy? separate rules for different religions...Muslims can have as many kids and wives...Sikhs can carry kirpan...(One sikh after slapping Sharad pawar...threatened his security with a kirpan...remember that incident? ) If he was hindu or any other religion..he would have been booked for attempt to murder..atleast...But Sikhs can carry weapons...that's what the rules says...separate laws for Muslim and Christian divorces...

and hindu marriage act is a big mess.

Every rule...every law...every action by the Govt...is only an eyewash..for the mass...It opens a sea of opportunity only for the corrupt, the people in power and the rich... to make more money...and thereby control the poor...before economics of the country played a big part...there was caste domination for centuries....yeh hain India...aisa hi rahega...never united because of its own policies and people....

They are killing off all the daughters. 4 million are "missing", Abortion in the city. Drowning in the country after the birth. That is going to cause a big drop in population when it is just a country full of men.

In the last 10 years hindus used family planning and had lesser children by about 1 crore

then 1.5 crore bangladeshi entered india and became citizens - thanks to politicians

These 1.5 crore will produce billions of babies (all bangladeshis) in next 100 years and then they will point at us - See a Kafir is going

So what is the fun in family planning ?

Japan has excelled in all sphere with high population rate ! Compare to the land space and raw material. Only difference with us is their Work-culture.

If only our populist, charismatic and short term culture could change without aping the developed West.

The culture of Old was gold, as the basics were taught to the developed world. But we have now forgotten those Gurukul system for a fast and violent world.

Do you think nowadays anybody give birth more than two children?

I think many have decided to stop with one in recent days because of high cost of living and to education, shelter etc.

So there is absolutely no necessity to create awareness as it is redundant in present society.

Because in places like India and China population control inadvertently encourages infanticide. There are certain social stigmas in the two countries which lead some parents to value sons over daughters, which in turn leads to sex-selective abortions and the murder/abandonment of newborn daughters. Of course this only represents a portion of the Chinese and Indian parents, but it is significant enough that it has had (and will have) drastic social consequences. You can probably understand why India is trying to put a stop to this.
