Improving gas mileage on my motorcycle?
I have a 2007 Honda CBR rr i just bought and it came with a slip on exhaust.. i dont believe there is a aftermarket air filter but i havent opened the box to find out.. right now i can only get about 120 miles on a tank, which is about 3.5 gallons.. ive heard average cbr's get 40-45 mpg and im not quite getting that, and seeing that its the biggest reason i bought a bike id like to be getting as good as i can.. also i dont know if the gears have been changed either.. im open to the idea of a power commander and a high flow air filter, and any other suggestions.. im a casual rider, not so much worried about hp as i am mpg.. it has plenty of power right now, i dont necessarily need more, but id hate to lose any also.. let me know what you all think.. thanks!

The most common cause of poor fuel mileage is low air pressure in tires.
As a street bike it's fairly certain that trans gears are stock, but the drive sprockets are easy to change, and to count, the stock spec's are listed in the owners manual and the dealers parts counter catalog.
You'll get better overall performance using the stock ratio.
By all means, check the air filter, you didn't list the mileage.

To put the mpg issue in perspective...
If you ride 5,000 miles a year, the difference between 34mpg (what you get now) and 42mpg (about what you expect) at $3.50 a gallon comes out to $98 a year.
So whatever you do to the bike, keep in mind you're talking less than $2 a week. And when people quote high mpg's like that its under ideal conditions and accelerating like your grandparents.
