WHY is gay marriage denounced in Christian religion?

Because Christianity is a homophobic religion.

1 Most people are socialised that marriage is between a man and a woman and that men should behave in certain ways which are masculine. Being penetrated is not masculine. These attitudes are common and when they meet with religious justification it is like a flammable substance meeting fire.

2 Some of the rules in the bible likely had a rational basis such as health eg. avoiding certain types of seafood as food poisoning / contamination was common. There is likely a reason why homosexuality was frowned upon originally with a rational basis eg. it could have been due to pagans practicising it so naturally christians had to denounce it and do the opposite or perhaps they were worried about population.

Religious zealots don't seem to care about the reason though.

Anglican leaders from around the world have clearly stated their opposition to the "victimisation or diminishment" of gays and lesbians, saying demonising and persecuting them was "totally against Christian charity and basic principles of pastoral care".

"We say that no one should have to live in fear because of the bigotry of others."

The mormons poured millions into forcing through prop 8 in CA: to ban gay marriage. In August 2010 the court held that to be unconstitutional. On 15 June 2011 the San Francisco court upheld that decision because it violates the constitutional rights of citizens. On 7 February 2012 the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals struck the California law again finding that the California state constitution banning same-sex marriage violated principles of due process and equal protection under the law.

The court found that the ban violates equality laws to target a minority group and withdraw a right that it possessed, without a legitimate reason for doing so. Proposition 8 serves no purpose, and has no effect, other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians in California. The constitution simply does not allow for laws of this sort.

It is now awaiting the Supreme Court verdict which is expected to uphold the early court decision.

If that happens then gay marriage will become legal everywhere and that will be marriage and not civil partnership!

In the UK The intolerance, bigotry and homophobia from Chrsitians resulted in it being classed as a hate crime with severe sentences. It has led to the government framing legislation which if enacted will replace "Civil Partnership" with full marriage.

The loving god works in mysterious ways.

It's simple back in biblical times the population was not as huge as it is now. So how can your "side" get more followers? Either convert them or breed them. So why not make same sex marriage wrong so this way we can breed out the free thinkers or sinners and use GOD and Jesus to push the idea that same sex love is wrong but yet again God and Jesus were about love! Love is blind God's will is Love in it's purest form which is giving of oneself to another not about physical trivialities!

Religion has always been a tool to fool the faithful, twist the truth and the masses will follow.

1.no. Marriage should be between a man and a female. 2.the children of jesus are those who follow the will of god and repent of their sins. not everybody is a child of jesus. 3. It doesn't hurt us but it is still wrong. 4.right is right and wrong is wrong, no matter who is involved, including family. 5. I say that if you talk about it you have to talk about the people that are on both sides of the issue. It can't be biased. 6. I don't really know what they mean by family values either. 7.It's sin. just because people can do it doesn't mean they should do it.

Most people nowadays assume that homosexuality is normal. Why do they think that? Because the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (which is the Psychiatrists bible) was hi-jacked by homosexuals in 1973 who forced Homosexuality out of the book. Now there is no way to defend serious study.

If studies were allowed we would find that a lot of homosexuality is perpetuated much like pedophilia is,(Not that homosexuality is pedophilia) which is sexual abuse and other forms such as neglect or physical or mental abuse.

1 Cor 6:9 tells us that men who lie with men will not inherit Gods Kingdom. When God created Adam and Eve He initiated the first marriage union. We have homosexuality today because of imperfection and this goes back to Biblical times. Yes it is unnatural and i truly believe that people have the feeling and may even be born with these feeling but just as an unmarried person should not act on their feeling before marriage or if never get married who has to deaden their body members so to an homosexual who have these feeling have to deaden their body members and not act on these feeling since they truly go against Bible teachings.

It's not denounced .. it's not even addressed because 'gay marriage' wasn't even an issue. Even as homosexuality existed, no one was as so foolish to believe it was equal to heterosexuality, deserving the same rights from the state.

1: I don't think you understand sanctity. Marriage was sanctioned by God as between a man and a woman, men and women who marry the same sex goes against its sanctity.

2: Jesus doesn't love everyone. He loves his children and only his children. He hates the wicked.

3: Homosexuals are free to love whomever they want, just as heterosexual males can love other men. They are even free to have sex with whomever they want ... they are not free, however, to tell me that their lifestyle is moral and I must agree with it. Abortion doesn't hurt me, and I am against it all the same.

4: Yes. If my child outed himself as gay, he would do so with full knowledge as to how I feel about homosexuals. Would I hate him? No, not at all. I may have a daughter who has premarital sex and gets pregnant; she would be no more innocent than he would be.

5: It does hurt children. If homosexuality is immoral, then teaching it to children hurts them because they are being taught that something immoral is good. "Are you scared that your son or daughter will 'turn ' gay because it is spoken about?" No. But as society stigmatizes heterosexuality (especially male heterosexuality) and makes homosexuality look cool, I would say we aren't far from the days where people don't even care about their sexual orientation anymore. They'll just have sex for the immediate gratification, no matter who it is.

Homosexuality is the irrational fear of homosexuals; it is very possible not to have an irrational fear of homosexuals while maintaining that it is wrong. Racism is attributing certain factors of a persons character or ability to their skin colour - entirely different than homophobia.

This is basically the same as asking why is killing a sin? Gay marriage is believed to be a demonic thing to chirstians because it's basically AGANIST nature, It's like a zebra having sex with a lion. It even has scientific evidence now that gay marriage isn't right and is just wrong and aganist nature. Another reason to believe the bible- It shows whats wrong and aganist nature before science can even prove it. Btw I have nothing aganist science

God created marriage to be between a man and a woman when He gave Eve to Adam. He sees any other definition of marriage as a counterfeit and sinful rebellion to the way He created us to live and love.
