How closely related am I to my cousin if our mothers are sisters & our fathers are brothers?

Hi,

I would like to know how closely my cousin and I might be related, because sharing the same 4 grandparents must make us genetically closer than most cousins. I should clarify that there is no inbreeding. Two sisters from family A married two brothers from family B.

Thanks.

You would be what some call "double first cousins so 25%, the same as what a person shares with grandparents, aunts, uncles, grandchildren.

Maternity cousins (i.e. your mom and your cousins' mon are sisters) proportion 0.5 a similar blood and subsequently, marriage is allowed. Paternal cousins (i.e. your dad and your cousins' dad are brothers) proportion a similar blood and those cousins are like your guy or woman siblings. subsequently, marriage isn't allowed.

It is not about close, you are double cousins, meaning your are cousins on both the maternal and paternal lineage.

Two of my friends have the same situation. They are first-cousins. I've never heard of double first-cousins.
