What is a "Born again" Christian?
Why don't they just consider themselves converted Christians and leave it at that?

Typically, a "born again" "Christian" (one who makes an issue of it), is someone who thinks they have received a spiritual rebirth.
However... (TDs expected)
Most haven't because they go through life the same way they did before allegedly being "reborn" and are unwilling to make a full and complete commitment to living according to _all_ the teachings and examples of Jesus Christ.
I can overlook a person who is trying their best, but when they really aren't trying, I don't consider them anything more than a hypocrite.
TDs, as I said, expected, mostly from the "saved" and "born again" crowd.
Added: Those who are silent on the matter (of being born again) are more likely to be among the "born again" folks. Humility is not a learned trait. It comes from within and doesn't draw attention to itself..

I became a born again Christian in 1976 when I repented to Jesus--and I did not own a Bible-and I was saved on a Monday while I was at work-and I never ever heard the term "born again" before that day. The Holy Spirit had been convicting me for years-and I simply got tired of running from the love of Christ-and God showed me a vision of Hell-and that was a thing that sacred the Hell out of me-I prayed for over two hours to my Savior Jesus Christ-and during that prayer He made me born again-and I do not live or desire to live as I did before Christ saved me. I was traumatically transformed. This experience is mocked by many because they are experts on something they know nothing about. God bless, Dion

A "born-again" Christian is no longer a so-called Christian in word only. The term Christian is very misleading because of the cults, sects, and false religions: such as the Roman Catholic Institution, JW's, Mormons, etc who call themselves Christian, but are everything but Christian.
A christian is a follower of Christ, and follows His laws and rules, not some dreamed up ideas of Romanism.
To be born again, you must first accept that Christ died personally for you, and that through His shed blood, you are redeemed. This world no longer has importance for you, now you are centered on spiritual awareness.
Your were born ib the flesh, now you are born in the spirit.
Shalom!

"There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again" (John 3:1-7).
Wanna argue with Jesus?!?
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." —2nd Corinthians 5:17
It is ONLY through the Precious Word of God that anyone can be born-again. Surely, no one can be born into this world again physically... there is no turning back the hands of time. However, you most certainly can be born again, spiritually, into God's family through the Spirit of Christ... "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his" (Romans 8:9). The way we become "born again" is found in the Word of God...
"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." —1st Peter 1:23
There is a new beginning in the spiritual realm when a sinner comes to faith in the risen Christ. It is not enough to say "converted," though that may be the case... being born-again or of the Spirit is a transition of the old sinful self and the birth of a new sinless spirit within corrupted man... this can ONLY be achieved through the conscious decision to obey the calling that God has made to each individual life.
Salvation cannot be bought with money, silver, or gold. It cannot be achieved, nor earned through human means. It is the gift of God to the repentant sinner.

Romans 10:9 and 10 is how to be covered by the blood of Jesus.
And this is what it means to be "born again".
"That if thou confess with thy mouth the lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

bullet...we know from john 3.3. that we need to be born again to enter into gods kingdom. ephes 2 tells us that we are dead in our sins and tresspasses. even though we have physical life, we dont have spiritual life without receiving jesus as our lord and savior who when he comes in, will impart his resurreciton life with us. phil 3, rom 4.25. all we need to do from our end is to confess christ and repent of our sins. rom 10.9 to 13. then, the holy spirit will recreate our dead human spirit inside of us and make us alive in christ! rom 12. chrislandwer@yahoo.com

Peace to all. In Christianity, born again refers to a "spiritual rebirth" (regeneration) of the human soul or spirit, contrasted with the physical birth everyone experiences. The origin of the term "born again" is the New Testament: "Jesus replied, 'Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born again.'"[Jn 3:3 NIV][1] It is a term associated with salvation in Christianity. Individuals who profess to be born again often state that they have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.[2][3][4] Following an interpretation of, for instance, Ezekiel 36:26,[9] adherents of the Born again concept believe that when a person accepts Jesus as the Messiah and receives the Holy Spirit, a radical "change of heart" occurs[citation needed]. This change is marked by an aversion to sin and a passion for obedience to the commandments of Jesus Christ, as outlined in the Christian scriptures. Many[who?] associate the term "born again" with the revelation of a new concept, or an experience of conversion, defined as mental assent to the acceptance of Jesus Christ as one's personal Savior; though some believe that this experience or mental assent (See Gnosticism) is not alone sufficient to merit Christian salvation. Rather, in addition, this is brought about by repentance, the aforementioned "new birth" of the Holy Spirit, and faith in Jesus Christ's propitiation for sins.[10]
Following Acts 2:38:
And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."[Acts 2:38]
this change is believed by some denominations to come from repentance, water baptism, and subsequent receipt of Holy Spirit. However, other denominations believe, following Romans 10:9:
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [Romans 10:9]
that confession of Christ as Lord and sincere belief in his resurrection is sufficient for salvation. The Oxford English Dictionary, finding examples going back to 1961, defines the adjective born-again as:
Of, pertaining to, or characterized by (an experience of) new birth in Christ or spiritual renewal; of a Christian: placing special emphasis on this experience as a basis for all one's actions, evangelical. Thanks for this post. God bless.

It seems to be based on John 3:3-7, "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."

It is someone who has had a personal encounter with God through faith in Jesus Christ, with the result that the old sinful "self" died, and a new person, with a new nature, a nature like the nature of Jesus, begins to live in them.
it happened to these:
