Hotmail account asks for credit card info after it has been blocked because it was hacked?

I'm trying to unblock my hacked account but I have to give all these details including my credit card info. I am very suspect about it. But I need to use my email so I don't know what to do.

    hotmail is a free service

You never gave them a credit card so they would not have one on file to compare against

Its a scam. You aren't on a hotmail website, you are on a scam site.

Hotmail will never ask for credit card information, there are other means of recovery it uses, if the message you received was via email, you are being scammed, just block and delete the sender of that message.

    That sounds fishy.

For future reference, set up another backup account. I started a new one for a job, and last time it got hacked they just sent a password reset to the other one.

But yeah, don't give credit card info.
