Could i be adopted even after the age of 18?

my mother has been with this guy for over 15 years (not married) and he has practically raised me since i was like 4, i just kinda wanna make him my legal father, he's been so good i mean a helluva a lot better than my "biological dad," and i really love him as my father, but anyways i was just wondering if its possible that he could legally adopt me, and also if yes, does it cost and what do you do about going about it? thanks in advance :)

That's a pretty complicated question and I don't have enough information to answer correctly. Most adoptions of step kids do have some costs such as a filing fee and court costs but they are minimal. If you are not eligible you can always go through a name change as a way of symbolizing you desires. He could legally name you in a will and make other legal proclamations so you could inherit.
