Am I out of the running?
I'm a HS senior football player. I asked a junior girl in one of my classes to prom in a really nice way, she is super shy and has like ugly duckling syndrome or something. She said "maybe, she'd have to talk to her friends b/c she was planning on going with them," and that "what i said was one of the sweetest things she'd ever heard". I texted her later last night, around midnight and said "no worries if you just want to go with friends, no pressure, its fine by me" and she never responded.
So I'm out of the running, right? What do I say when I see her in class tomorrow?
Listen Jade, do you have any idea what ugly duckling syndrome is?? Its when a girl is shy and insecure because she didn't become beautiful until she was older.

Eh just smile to her tomorrow as you head into class, see how she reacts. Maybe she might come over and discuss the situation. Who cares if you got rejected I didn't bring a woman to my prom and I had a good time. Try avoid texting her or she might get freaked out. Look at it this way, at least you were man enough to go up to her. If rejected try another girl, pleanty more fish in the sea. If you got the confidence, you got the woman.
